Jim & Barb have been married for 50 years...They're just about ready to kill each other.
Synopsis
You’re invited to Jim & Barb’s golden wedding anniversary!
After 50 years of marriage, these Baby Boomers from Balwyn annoy one another so much… they literally want to kill each other. Meanwhile, Greta Thunberg is on the TV telling them that the world is on fire and it’s all their fault.
Their comedic dissent into the disappointing abyss of unfulfilled dreams and a mounting fear of ‘what’s outside’ is layered with precision timing, nonsensical absurdity and deadpan delivery.
The Anniversary is a brand new murderously hilarious, physical farce. Think Beckett meets Wallace and Grommit.
Since 2006, Clare Bartholomew and Daniel Tobias have been touring their award-winning, irreverent brand of theatre and comedy-cabaret to North America, Europe, New Zealand, and Australia. Together they’ve been nominated for thirteen Greenroom Awards, twice winning Best Production with Die Roten Punkte, and nominated for a Time Out & Soho Theatre Award and a Total Theatre Award in Edinburgh.

Audience & Marketing Notes
The Anniversary is a largely non-verbal performance and is suitable for audiences 13+.
Selling Points
- The subject matter and change of direction in style and delivery for Salvador Dinosaur from contemporary cabaret to largely non-verbal physical comedy has the potential to attract new audiences, including non-hearing audiences and those with English as a second language, as well as deepening our engagement with our current followers.
- The work’s themes of isolation, loneliness and the emotional labour of managing relationships will resonate widely - be it older audiences recognising the dysfunctional dynamic of the two central characters, or younger audiences responding to the irreverent comedy they might recognise in the animated work of Wallace and Grommit, South Park, Mighty Boosh or Roald Dahl’s The Twits.
